On behalf of the Editorial Board of Zaria Journal of Empirical Studies in Education, I present to the academic community the Maiden Edition, Volume 1, Number 1, December 2021, of the journal. This Volume contains original empirical research work which cuts across teacher education, information technology, pedagogical issues and entrepreneurship education among others. The articles were processed through a rigorous procedure which includes plagiarism check, blind peer review and editors’ content and technical reassessment to ensure quality and compliance with journals pre-set criteria. Those articles which were adjudged to have met the prescribed standard are published in this maiden edition while others are still being processed for publication in subsequent volume(s). Much as the Editorial Board endeavoured to do due diligence check on the articles, it is however to be noted that author(s) take responsibility for the content of their articles.
I would like to express gratitude to our esteemed contributors for promptly addressing observations raised on their manuscripts. Consequently, contributors whose articles were not able to make this maiden volume are encouraged to take advantage of subsequent volumes of the journal by ensuring that their manuscripts advances the frontier of knowledge. Immense appreciation goes to our esteemed assessors, editors and editorial advisers for their selfless contributions in ensuring this volume sees the light of day.
In addition, I would like to thank the Editorial Board members and the College Management for their dedication and selfless service in making this journal informative, stimulating and educative with sound research outcomes. I wish to use this medium to also appreciate the management of TETFUND for its collaborative support and sponsorship.
Bequeathing an enduring and robust academic legacy for teachers, students and all lovers of knowledge is the journals desire. Consequently your continuous patronage and constructive feedback are welcome to sustain and improve on the quality of the journal. We remain determined to be at our best in the service of humanity.
Dr Ramatu Asabe Nuru
Editor-in-Chief
Welcome to the maiden issue of the Zaria Journal of Empirical Studies in Education (ZAJESE). The journal is a publication of the Federal College of Education, Zaria, focusing on experimental research, correlational research, longitudinal study, causal-comparative research, etc. An evident low-level preparedness for innovations in modern technology in the curriculum implementation of most Tertiary Education Institutions in the nation’s education space necessitates innovative education research. To that effect, ZAJESE was conceived to respond to matters arising from the new norm in conducting business in the education sector. The journal is a response to the challenge and has toe the path of empirical research to meet the challenges posed by the virtual revolution in pedagogy with pro-active, holistic, and multidisciplinary approaches.
The journal is a peer-reviewed, and multidisciplinary journal launched to provide a cross-disciplinary forum for researchers to disseminate innovative research in educational practices. All manuscripts published in this inaugural edition went through a rapid process of thorough peer-review procedures. Furthermore, the editorial team was conscious of the timeliness of publication while sustaining best practices in the rigours of empirical research publications. Research outcomes accepted by the journal for publication are, thus, results of in-depth study with a focus on providing solutions to knotty issues in pedagogy, education planning, and educational administration.
This volume has eleven (11) articles from erudite researchers across Nigeria. The volume addresses contemporary snags in the process of teaching and learning with particular attention to e-learning in Business Education, the influence of internet resources usage on undergraduate chemistry students’ academic achievement, the relationship between continuous assessment and examination marks scored in bookkeeping and accounts, and effect of information communication technology on academic performance of secondary school chemistry students, among others.
The vision of the editorial team is to present cutting-edge innovations and great strive in maintaining the highest standards of excellence for ZAJESE. Beginning with the inaugural edition, the journal is firmly rooted in the path of widespread dissemination of research outcomes, high visibility, and the likelihood of high citations and broader impacts.
On this note, I present to the reading audience and the academic community the inaugural edition of ZAJESE, and I hope you would find the journal academically fulfilling.

Editorial Board of ZAJESE
